Will Rogaine get advertising boost as Lady Gaga uses product for baldness
Aug 2011
Lady Gaga is going bald due to all the chemical dyes she has used on
her hair, which is all part of her flamboyant and creative package.
She is turning to the product Rogaine, which is often promoted in TV
commercials for arresting the baldness and promoting new hair
growth. just the mention that the world’s most recognized pop diva
is using this product, should be worth millions of advertising for
the Rogaine company.
If Lady Gaga uses it, you can bet that her millions of followers
will keep Rogaine in mind if ever they feel their hair is thinning.
Lady Gaga just made Rogaine “cool” and it is no longer for the
middle-aged balding man with the pot belly that is a stereotype for
baldness.
The latest short haircut that Lady Gaga is sporting is what the
singer is calling a “chemical haircut.” She said in a recent
interview that she needed to cut her blonde hair short due to all
the damage from dyes, according to Contact Music.
The
pop-diva is not the first celebrity to give a product an
unintentional endorsement that works as an informal advertising
campaign for a company. Justin Bieber did the same thing for the
online photo service, Instagram, last week. With just the click of
one picture sent by Bieber using this service, their website saw up
to 50 new followers a minute in the next few days.
This unintentional advertising phenomenon is often seen these days
with the clothes and accessories worn by Kate Middleton since she
came on the royal scene. just the mention of her newest designer
handbag, or the designer dress she is wearing, has worked to have
the product sell-out in hours.
People imitate the celebrities, from “The Beatles” haircuts to Kim
Kardashian shoes, people want to look like their idols. They want to
eat what they eat and drink what they drink, this has been known by
the admen since the birth of advertising agencies. this is why
sports figures sell cereal and sports drinks and celebrities sell
fragrances, clothes and make-up.
A celebrity endorsement is worth millions, but when luck passes your
way and a celebrity comes from out of the blue starts using your
product and lets it be known, you have hit the jack-pot for free
advertising.
Rogaine, the brand name is made by Johnson & Johnson Healthcare
Products and it would be very interesting to see if the stock goes
up in price since one of the most recognized women in the world has
been reported as just starting to use this product.
