frequently asked questions about dermatology and thinning hair:
What
treatments can I use for my thinning hair if it is hereditary?
For female hereditary hair thinning, the only drug
approved by the Food and Drug Administration is minoxidil. Women's
Rogaine contains minoxidil and has been proven safe and effective.

What happens if I get new
hair regrowth and I stop using Women's Rogaine?
Continued use of Women's Rogaine is needed to
maintain hair regrowth. If you stop using Women's Rogaine, the normal
hair loss process will start again. You will probably lose your newly
re-grown hair within 3 to 4 months and will look the way you would have
looked if you had never used Women's Rogaine. Just remember your results
and success depends on proper application of Women's Rogaine twice a
day, every day, directly to the scalp.
Will Women's Rogaine
react negatively with my regular styling aids, like hairspray or gel?
After washing and towel-drying your hair and
scalp, apply Women's Rogaine, allowing it to dry before styling or using
styling products. After drying, Women's Rogaine will not interfere with
your regular hairstyling products.
Are there any side
effects with Women's Rogaine?
Side effects of the 2% topical solution of Women's
Rogaine are generally mild and reversible. Some people may experience a
dry, itchy scalp and irritation, which can be treated by rinsing your
hair and scalp with cool water. Daily shampooing is encouraged, with use
of a conditioner that may help dryness and itching. If the condition
persists, stop use and see your doctor. Infrequent cases of unwanted
facial hair have been reported. This hair growth will usually disappear
when use of Women's Rogaine is discontinued.
How soon can I expect
results?
During the first two to four weeks after you begin
using Women's Rogaine, you might see a temporary increase in hair
shedding. Don't worry — this simply means that the new growth cycle is
beginning, and the hairs that were previously resting are making way for
the new ones. When you start using Women's Rogaine twice a day, every
day, you will soon begin to notice less hair shedding. Eventually, new
growth will appear as soft, very light hair. This is very encouraging,
and means that Women's Rogaine is actually stimulating regrowth. At four
months, you may begin to see evidence of new hair growth. Another sign
that Women's Rogaine is working is that your hair feels fuller and
thicker, becoming easier to style. If you don't see any results after
four months, discontinue use. While not everyone responds to Rogaine,
most users do. Individual results vary.
How long do I have to use
Women's Rogaine?
Female hair thinning is a lifelong condition
requiring continuous use of Women's Rogaine. Consider it a part of your
daily beauty and personal maintenance regimen. Hair loss will return if
you stop using Rogaine.
