No More Bald PeopleMay 2007 Scientists from the Institute of General Genetics have discovered the reason
of growing bald, a hereditary disease called hypotrichosis, partial or full hair
loss. Phospholipase is an enzyme, participating in synthesis of bioactive lipids, and is produced in hair follicles and in sites, containing stem cells. 50 families with members, suffering from hypotrichosis, and healthy ones have taken part in tests, which showed all bald people having said gene defect. Scientists consider this gene playing an important role in hair growth regulation. The enzyme is a promising target for finding new ways to cure hair loss. Source: Science News
