Dye, trim or shave off that hair for a younger look

The latest hair trends for men, inspired by athletes and celebrities, are diverse.

Here are what the experts are scoping out:

Tinting or coloring to camouflage gray or just for fashion. A dye job "makes a guy look and feel younger," said aging expert Mark Goldstein.

Long and shaggy hair but "more groomed and polished" than in the '60s and '70s, said Tippi Shorter, Pantene celebrity hair stylist.

Full baldness. Now, "it's considered sexy rather than a demeaning sign of old age," said Mr. Goldstein. Says hair guru Marc Anthony: "It can make a man appear slightly rugged and sophisticated all at the same time."

Kinky afros and especially dreadlocks from the streets to the sports arenas. "We have also seen a growing acceptance of both styles in the corporate world," Ms. Shorter said.

A clean-shaven face to complement longer hair, and facial hair to offset a bald head.

"Men are tired of looking scruffy," said Mr. Anthony. "Facial hair is more short with a polished finish. Sideburns stay at lower ear level, appearing tight to skin. This gives a hip and cool vibe while still appearing clean-cut."
