Jamshedpur's bald men demand punishment for
calling them 'takla'
Jamshedpur:
An association of bald men here have demanded that referring to them
as 'takla' (taunt for baldness) should be declared as a punishable offence.
Taking out a procession in the Steel City today, the association known as 'Ganja
Ekta Union' (Association for Bald Men's Unity) also demanded concessions at par
with physically challenged people.
"We have united to protest against the use of the word 'takla' or bald men for
people like us. It is highly objectionable and we are demanding that it be
turned into a punishable offence," said Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Vice President of
the Jharkhand State Ganja Union.
Though the association is still in its nascent stages, family members of the
bald club are very enthusiastic.
Madhu Sinha, who has a bald husband said: "The Association is planning to
convene a convention in October and invited big personalities like L.K. Advani,
Rajnath Singh, Arjun Singh, Anupam Kher and Feroze Khan for it".
"It would be really very encouraging for all the bald people," added Sinha.
As the bald people marched here, curious onlookers had a broad grin as well as
the marchers, who were happy to have a banner of their own.
