International society of hair restoration surgery hosts Asian WorkshopWorld-renown hair restoration experts will present the latest medical and surgical advances in treating hair loss in Asians at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery's (ISHRS) Asian Hair Surgery Workshop hosted by ISHRS member Kenichiro Imagawa, M.D., of Yokohama, Japan. This special, three-day workshop is designed to demonstrate the unique
considerations for performing hair transplants
in Asians through a series of educational lectures and live surgeries. "This workshop will further explore the ethnic differences of the scalp and
hair between Asians and Caucasians and identify which surgical techniques
achieve optimal results for Asians suffering from hair loss." Today, a number of new transplant techniques are used to address the
aesthetic needs of each individual patient -- from creating dense areas of new
hair growth on the top of the scalp to skillfully reconstructing a receding
hairline. An oral medication available by prescription only, finasteride has been shown
in clinical trials to produce long-term improvement in scalp hair growth and to
slow scalp hair loss in a majority of men with androgenetic alopecia, or male
pattern hair loss. "The ISHRS is pleased to offer this workshop to hair restoration physicians
around the world who are committed to expanding their base of knowledge on the
latest surgical techniques and best practices for Asian patients." With a membership of over 600 physicians worldwide, the ISHRS provides continuing medical education to physicians specializing in hair loss and restoration surgery and serves as a resource for the public on the latest medical and surgical hair restoration treatments for hair loss.
