Hair Loss Treatment Linked to Tony Blair's Heart Scare

April 2008

News out today suggests that Tony Blair’s highly-publicised heart scare in 2003 may have been caused by the hair loss medicine ‘Regaine’ also known as minoxidil.

The claim has been made in a new book called ‘In Sickness And In Power: Illness in Heads of Government During the Last 100 Years’ which is written by Lord David Owen, Foreign Secretary in the Labour Government in the late seventies and a trained doctor.

Over half of the nation’s men (52 per cent) admit that their hair affects their confidence according to a national poll* but this recent news begs the question - is it worth putting your health at risk for the sake of holding onto your hair?

As Deborah McManners, GP and naturopath states: ‘Hair loss can be devastating but the good news is that a nutritional supplement with high levels of protein – essential for hair health - can help men to support natural growth without endangering their health.’

For men seeking a natural alternative to combating thinning hair, Viviscal – the No. 1 hair loss supplement in America - has just launched in the UK. Developed by Finnish scientists, Viviscal has been widely scientifically tested and is the latest advance in hair loss treatment which nourishes and strengthens hair while promoting existing growth. New Viviscal Man has 154 per cent more protein than its closest competitor and combats thinning hair naturally with no known side-effects.

Currently one in two men under-50 suffer from hair loss which is often caused by dihydrotestosterone (DHT) produced naturally by the male body, which inhibits hair growth and prevents nutrients from reaching the hair follicle. Poor diet, stress and excessive hair styling can also be contributory factors.

The Viviscal Man range includes both a dietary supplement and specialist complimentary hair products, nourishing the hair both inside and out. The active ingredient in Viviscal Man supplement is a pure marine protein complex called AminoMar C™. A powerful combination of marine extracts, organic silica, Vitamin C and Zinc, it contains the optimum level of nutrients to nourish the hair follicles naturally from within. Viviscal Man also contains Flax seed, which is believed to reduce the dihydrotestosterone (DHT) inhibitors and so helps to keep the hair follicles healthy and full of nutrients.

Viviscal Man is supported by industry experts Dr Deborah McManners (GP and naturopath), Terry Calvert (Vice President for the Federation for British Hairdressing) and Vetta Thompson (international trichologist)

The Viviscal Man range is brought to you by Lifes2good and from £49.95 for the Viviscal Man Supplement to £8.50 for the Viviscal Shampoo. It is available direct from Lifes2good on 0845 399 1961, www.viviscalman.co.uk or from pharmacies and health food stores.
