Mesa resident Yvonne King originally posted a dazzling photo of herself on MySpace.com to show girls that it's OK to be bald.

Then the Internet worked its magic.

On Saturday, King will help host Arizona's first luncheon for women with alopecia areata, an immune-system condition that causes hair loss.

Bald Girls Do Lunch at the Marriott Suites Old Town in Scottsdale promises to be equal parts support group, consciousness raiser and beauty school, says King, 43, who learned of the event through the digitized "word-of-mouth" MySpace offers like-minded people.

The cyber trail led to Thea Chassin, a Westchester, N.Y., physical therapist who founded the non-profit lunch group after she lost her long brown hair 10 years ago.
